Directions from Bend: Travel 26.7 miles west on Cascade Lakes Highway (46) to the Green Lakes Trailhead and follow the Green Lake Trail to its junction with the Moraine Lake trail.Ok maybe I’m old but this was an ass kicker with a great reward at the end. In the sun, the black glitters and sparkles from the shine of the light. The snow had melted and there were lots of beautiful wildflowers and abundance of butterflies (so many in the meadows that I had to watch my step so I didn’t step in them as I walked). I kept having to take breaks on the way up but the way down was easy/nice. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching. Not too deep and you can see all the way to the bottom throughout the whole thing. The ascent didn’t have much shade and was the least scenic part of the hike (but was still nice and relaxing to walk through) and the descent was mostly shaded and steeper. The trail up to the fork is along the creek. just to see a little bit more. The lake is sooo pretty!

All easily doable in trail runners. The hike to the lake is definitely a workout, especially with overnight gear, but worth it. Totally doable; hiked it on 6/27 and had no problems with the snow or difficulty staying on trail. Most of the climb is gradual until you pass the last meadow and then it becomes a set of steep switchbacks. Gradual incline, easy hiking. Got about a mile past the trail split from Green Lakes and kept losing the trail due to snow. It was coldNice hike with good views but it's hard to find a camping spot if you are looking to spend the night. There were still snow drifts on the trail and leading to the lake. Great for dogs. Expect mosquitos.easy / moderate. Just small patches of snow. This was a very beautiful hike with very few people (and the few people I came across were wearing masks and practiced social distancing). But the trail was absolutely beautiful up until that point. Going this route the hike was 6.85 miles instead of 5 miles. At this time, there were no bugs and the trail was relatively clear (save for the snow!). Moraine Lake sits nearly half way up the South Sister and is a perfect goal for a day hike into the Three Sisters Wilderness. It was hot and a steady climb up. Lots of mosquitos. There's still some snow on the trail, but nothing terrible. Right now it’s almost completely covered in snow with the lake totally frozen over. While I was there a lightning storm started and that was my cue to make it down to a lower elevation. went on a sunday, no issue parking at devils lake parking lot (they take card which is nice). We went to the Green Lake trailhead and split off onto the Moraine trail 2 miles in. My girlfriend and I did this hike this afternoon. At 2.0 miles, the trail intersect with the path leading to Moraine Lake. It was a nice walk to get down there and added about two miles more to the trip. Gorgeous and the sound of waterfalls so relaxing. Moraine Lake Trail is a 5.1 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Bend, Oregon that features a lake and is rated as moderate. Stick to the right as this is the Green Lakes Trail.

We tried to be Trail Blazers and follow gps for the trail as it was still all snowed in. If you're taking the Moraine Lake loop, turn right and descend this steep, slippery trail. Great hike, well worth it. Amazing waterfalls on the way up and great views of S Sister and Broken Top at the end. While there was a bit of snow, it wasn't anything one cannot manage, I don't think. This is a different starting point than shown on the map above. Lots of hungry mosquitos. But the trail is mostly clear all the way up, This is a great trail. I went off trail a bit near the end and hiked to Morraine Lake. To complete the Moraine Lake loop, hike to the far side of the lake and follow the trail up the ridge to the right. The rain started lightly, but by the time I got to my car it was coming down hard.
