These include world records for Sitka blacktail, Coues whitetail and mountain caribou, as well as numerous monster African big game.If you read bowhunting magazines, you cannot avoid being exposed to Adams.
Much respect and hats off to both of you for your accomplishments! I was disappointed that the great adventure of hunting 27 "big game" of North America was reduced to a tedious chronicle where you can almost substitue the 27 different animals into the "story"....how the guide took the hunter to the hunted and an arrow was shot killing the animal.
Jack Frost (Archery #4) 37. I shoot a Mathews... at least until my next bow.
In fact I don't give to much credence to the super slam guys who have a guide take them to the animal and they shoot it. I have only one cam installed and that is located in …
Wasn't it Paris Hilton who put a copyright on the phrase "that's hot!"?
A side note, I would not of cut someone's law for 20 years, I would have gotten a plotted survey before buying the property lol.jmo For Tom, whom I do not know a thing about, or anyone else to gain or maintain credibility with the public, they need to stay as far away from Dennis Campbell as they can. GSCO only requires a $60 yearly membership and all animals can be documented at no charge. : Adventures with North American Big Game is Chuck Adams's first book retracing his epic journey to take all 28 North American big game species with a bow.
I am pretty sure I own a superslam cap Tom. The terms that are used on the hunting shows, dirt nap, bbd, whack and stack etc... Has created a mind set in a lot of hunters that it's all about the kill. I get a real kick out of the guys that choose a bow due to some tv personality. jaylow? PS: I do think Tom Miranda and Chuck Adams are pretty freaking awesome though. I was lucky to shoot what I did. Lawyers, judges, antler & horn scores, awards and copyrighted terms (formerly) used by hunters... pathetic! Solid posts on Tom and Ned's part.
His writing style seems to reflect the appreciation that he has, not only for his quarry, but also for the fact that he has personally been given this wonderful opportunity to accomplish the "holy grail" of bowhunting. These guys are and always will be ambassadors and a big part of the reason I started bowhunting. One day my son will follow I hope and so it goes..... Tom, (I think) anyone can register a qualifying bow killed animal in Pope & Young Club Big Game Record Book and NOT be a P&Y member......paid membership (I don't think is a MUST).......submit and official P&Y score sheet by a P&Y Measurer and submit the form (paperwork) to the office and pay the fee for acceptance. I have completed it with Miller Light and with Coors Light! I have an interest in this thread. Rowdy Dowdy already got a copywrite on that PhotoShop Slam thing! Funny what happens when $$$ gets involved. On a tangential note......does anyone know if Chucks Adams ever posted on Bowsite? His reply (he's 14 now) was, he did one of those bowhunting slams.. Chuck is a sore looser. It is possible that family members have helped in this case but I could be wrong.
Supposedly, Chuck wasn't the first.....he was the first to legally apply for the legal rights to the phrase.... Medicineman, are you telling me Chuck Adams was not the first to kill all North American big game animals? However this works out, I wish success to each party. Basically, Miranda was the shooter. I guess then it's all about buying your super slam. To say it benefits Dennis directed is most likely unwarranted in my opinion. Despite what you think of organizations or their cost, they help keep hunters united and they raise money to support hunting as well as wildlife conservation.
However, I submit that it would have taken longer....and he wanted the number 1, for promotional purposes.
Not many among us have what it takes, the combination of characteristics required to accomplish the goal. Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, Michael Jordan, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky and Mohammad Ali clearly fall within the superstar category of male athletes. If hunting is a sport, then clearly for bowhunters, Chuck Adams must fall within that rarified category of superstar. I may be wrong but isn't Bass Pro/Redhead sponsoring Bob Foulkrod to take all NA Big Game animals with a gun/muzzeloader? One squirrel,One rabbit, and a turkey. 2 different hunters, profiles and careers. Death in the Long Grass: A Big Game Hunter's Adventures in the African Bush I haven't heard where Adams has ever said anything about the non-commercial use of SuperSlam. I like it because I see so many off-the-cuff claims of this that or the other thing. It's too bad Tom didn't get Chuck on board with his show.
I see it as building a foundation and going from there. However, Michner says that outdoor sports, such as hunting and fishing, are legitimate sports, but are non-competitive.
With all the things said, WOW, isn't it great that we can all have our opinion, talk with some of the greatest hunters on the planet, and not look over our shoulder for one minute.
Fact is both these guys rely on income from thier outdoor careers. Well if I had the choice of who I would want to share a campfire with it would be Tom.
At the end of the day the issue is that in the "Record Book" that Tom and GSCO are writing. The promotion of hunting has been a double edge sword, for it has created an era of folks who care nothing about "hunting" but everything about killing. 2012-08-02.
I'm not sure why I was disappointed; it may be because much of what was written in "Life at Full Draw", was also included in Super Slam. He is so good at defending himself directly while not insulting the other individual. Meat Eater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter Both are nonprofit organizations I believe. I highly recommend "Life at Full Draw," because it tells a lot more about the life of Chuck from boyhood through his Super Slam!
Thanks for some real good posts here by Tom, loesshills, Double Lung, hunter, sticksender, Ambush, tony.
You don't think that Chuck Adams had a big payday being the first Super Slammer? He readily agreed and I appreciated that very much as did our organization. Now I see some old man on TV using my phrase!
