11 of 17 people found this review helpful. While trying to capture the wildlife of the area on film, our photographers cross paths with a game hunter, who is stalking the animals for another reason. Maury Dann (Rip Torn, in one of his most memorable performances) is a not-so-nice country-Western singer. Maggie seeks out the lonely... Strange that a DVD can be manufactured with the wrong film in tact, but I suppose it is an easy mistake to make seeing as though they are both B-grade movies of the same name made in the 70's. There is considerable anti-gun talk, but we all know where that is going. William Smith plays the role of "Caribe," a hunter, who is quite twisted and deranged. When flesh-eating piranhas are accidentally released into a summer resort's rivers, the guests become their next meal. Skip it. It took me 3 efforts to watch this movie. Caribe does race one of the tourists on a motorcycle in a over-dramatic Smokey and the Bandit kind of way. This movie could be called “Padding: The Movie”, but there are certainly worse…Unrelated (and pre-dating) the entire Piranha franchise, huge parts of this flick felt like a meandering attempt at a nature documentary sponsored by a motorcycle brand.

I can go on and on like this but I think you're getting the point......nothing happens ever in this movie. As for natives, you don't really get that many. Instead, we got some jungle melodrama about a a girl and two guys who go searching for diamonds and end up confronting a vicious animal hunter. Lots of beautiful scenery as it was filmed on location. I ordered it thinking it was the OTHER movie called "Piranha", which is a delightful, fake-bloody romp following the adventures of stupid people getting eaten.

There's really not even much in the way of piranhas in the movie. What Piranha? The second effort I managed to get through 35 minutes but yet again I found myself asleep. Seriously, the race comes from out of nowhere and takes forever! Peter Brown, Tom Simcox and Ahna Capri, who starred one year later in Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon", will find out as soon as possible that this man is not their friend.
